On a walk from mid-morning till early evening, you can walk around the old part of Zurich and see a great deal. That allows for coffees and delicious pastries. our hotel was right in the heart of the city, walking distance from the huge train station.
lovely (but pricey) fruit and veges were plentiful. It was asparagus time and everywhere this large white variety featured on restaurant menus.
beautiful strawberries
everywhere lovely little specialty stores abound.
some people have too much space on their balconies
a rich history
again, colourfully painted houses.
very ornate bay windows
one of the largest and oldest clocks in Europe.
very interesting designs on these doors
the river flows through town and into the lake, or is it the other way around.
lots of narrow alleyways.
lovely flowers in the shops
we have a dear friend Christine Krugg - and this is her street.
it joins the main street towards the railway station which dominates one end of the city.
chocolates chocolates chocolates chocolates chocolates chocolates chocolates
Allison brought JJ a box of chilli chocolates - hmmmmm interesting.
how do you keep your swiss francs in your wallet in a shop like this!
we finally found the opera house - not as dominating as Vienna.
the lake is cold!
and a fountain
ALli got the gloves out!
the swans did not seem to mind the cold water.
lots of views from the bridge over the river.
very ornate iron work - but the balconies in Paris were the most plentiful and ornate.
lovely park in a secluded area.
Oh no! more chocolates.
flags for everyone
A good visit and a nice place to stay a few days after the spectacular train trip through the alps.
